WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY?

Osteopathy is a holistic system of diagnosis and hands on treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. Osteopaths work with the structure & function of the body, and treatment is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.
Osteopathic treatment involves soft tissue massage techniques in combination with stretching, mobilising and manipulations of the spine and the peripheral joints in the body.
Osteopathy is a regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and osteopaths are recognised as allied health professionals by the NHS.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

During your first consultation you will be asked a series of questions regarding your reason for visiting, medical history, lifestyle and occupation. This will be followed by a physical examination and testing, you may be required to remove certain items of clothing at this stage of the consultation, in order to expose the symptomatic area so please bring some shorts or loose clothing to change into.
Once the examination is complete you will be given a diagnosis and a proposed treatment plan, which is tailored specifically to you. This will be followed by osteopathic treatment, or referral for further medical investigations if required. Following treatment, it is common to feel some mild discomfort of the affected area for up to 72 hours.

YOUR PRACTITIONER

After starting his early work life as an electrical engineer, Ben soon came to realise that this career path was unfulfilling as he dreaded the thought of setting his alarm for the morning.
Ben felt that osteopathy would be the perfect career for him, as it would allow him to combine his problem solving skills gained through engineering, with his passion for health and fitness.
Ben studied for 5 years at The London School of Osteopathy, and graduated in 2018 gaining a Masters degree in Osteopathy (MOst).
As an advocate for health and fitness, Ben understands how important exercise and mobility is for maintaining wellbeing and therefore encourages all of his patients to live an active and healthy lifestyle.

Ben is registered with the General Osteopathic Council and a member of the Institute of Osteopathy.
